Dear Friend,
Let's stop lying to ourselves for a second.
You check your phone every few minutes. Not because you want to, but because your body has trained itself to. You've watched his WhatsApp go from "online" to "last seen 40 minutes ago" while your message to him sits there, unanswered, mocking you a little.
You've sent a screenshot of his dry "lol nice" to your girls in the group chat and asked, for the hundredth time, "what do you think this means?" Somewhere deep down you already know what it means. You just don't want to be right.
And here's the part that really hurts. You're always the first to view his status. Every single time. Not because you're trying to, your thumb just goes there before your brain catches up.
Here's the part that stings. He's not busy. He's not "going through a lot." He saw your message, read it, and put the phone down. That's it. That's the whole story.
And the reason he can do that so easily? Because right now, you're easy. Not in the way people mean when they say it as an insult, but in the plain, mathematical sense. You reply fast. You forgive fast. You clear your Saturday night for a text that came in at 9:47pm. So why would he change anything? You haven't given him a reason to.
That's not a character flaw in you. It's just what happens when nobody ever taught you how this actually works.
And before you think the answer is to just give him more, more attention, more patience, more of yourself physically, let's be honest about something. Even sex won't keep him. If anything, it can make him more comfortable disappearing, because now he's getting the closeness without ever having to earn it. What keeps a man isn't more access. It's less certainty.
